Palestine and The Struggle for Unity, Sovereignty and Liberation

Online Event – Thursday 16th January – 4pm WST (7pm AEDT)
Event by Palestine Justice Movement Sydney , in conjunction with Friends of Palestine WA and other Palestine solidarity groups around Australia.
October the 7th events has created one of the most critical junctures in the history of the Palestinian struggle for sovereignty and liberation when the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) made the unilateral decision to embark on Operation Al Aqsa Flood that breached the 17-year old siege on Gaza.
To the bewilderment of much of the world, the Israeli genocidal campaign that ensued in Gaza is now going into its second year and the Zionist war machine is showing no sign of relenting. To the contrary, the events in Palestine has triggered chain reactions that encompassed the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and indirectly (or directly) led to the unexpected liberation of Syria and the end of it’s decades-long brutal regime.
With the new administration in the white house and the prospects of a full scale war with Iran, and with the infighting between the Palestinian Authority forces and the different resistance factions in the West Bank, the situation is becoming more vulnerable and less predictable while the genocide in Gaza is fading in the background as the prospects of a prisoners exchange deal is continues to resemble a mere mirage.
* How did the Palestinians get to this state of disunity and fragmentation in the face of the Israeli system of oppression and occupation? What are the main factors that perpetuated this division?
* How is Hamas’s October the 7th operation, and the genocide that ensued in Gaza, impacting the division between the West Bank and Gaza?
* What is Hamas’s exit strategy out of the ongoing genocide?
* What is the role of the Palestinian diaspora in ending the genocide and bringing about justice and liberation, and a long-lasting solution?
* How does the liberation of Syria play into the Palestinian struggle at this juncture in time?
